We serve mainly the local market, the province of Okinawa. The archipelago has more than 1.380 million inhabitants and a fleet of 900,000 vehicles.

The refinery's storage capacity is 6,798 thousand barrels of oil in 11 tanks; 458,000 kl of products such as gasoline, diesel, naphtha, diesel, and 3,000 tons of LPG.

In Japan, Petrobras is over 500 strong, including 210 employees at the refinery, and it is among the province's top-two taxpayers.

To meet the refinery's business, financial, and management needs, Petrobras installed a structure in Tokyo. In Japan, Petrobras does business with several countries from around the world, buying oil and selling its products in Japan and the major markets in Asia and Oceania, planning its entire logistics strategy.

The highlight is the continent's major potential for oil derivatives and biofuel consumption, which are on our exports list.

In addition to China, the geographical proximity to emerging economies, such as Vietnam, Singapore, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, and South Korea, lends a new characteristic to our position in Asia.

NSS has three piers with capacity to receive vessels of up to 97,000 deadweight tonnage (dwt) and a monobuoy for a Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC) of up to 280,000 dwt.

We consider Japan as the main ethanol exports market for Asia. In 2005, we created Brazil-Japan Ethanol, in partnership with the Japanese state-owned Nippon Alcohol Hanbai corporation. Today, the company is responsible for the entry of part of the ethanol imported from Brazil into Japan. Brazil accounts for 70% of the ethanol imported by Japan, a volume equivalent to 500,000 cubic meters per year. This ethanol is used for industrial purposes, such as to manufacture perfume, alcoholic beverages, and foods.

In Okinawa, we started marketing E3 fuel, regular gasoline blended with 3% of ethanol, in 2010. In the Tokyo region, BJE is responsible for supplying 3 service stations with the E3.
