Monthly oil and natural gas output sets record in August

producao-agosto

Our total oil and natural gas output in August was 2.84 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), of which 2.72 million boed produced in Brazil, while 120,000 boed abroad.

The total oil and gas output in Brazil set a monthly record, as did the average oil output in the country, which topped out at 2.22 million barrels per day (bpd) in August. In addition, we also set a new daily record on Aug. 19, with a volume of 2.33 million bpd, surpassing the previous daily record, which had been set on December 22, 2014 and totaled 2.30 million bpd.

Output up 4 percent in the pre-salt setting a new record

The oil and natural gas production we operate (own share and of partners) in the pre-salt layer rose 4 percent in August, reaching a new monthly record of 1.36 million boed.

This outcome was due mainly to the interconnection of new wells and to the increased production from wells that had already been connected to FPSOs Cidade de Maricá and Cidade de Saquarema, both installed in the Lula field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt area. FPSO is the English acronym for floating production, storage, and offloading unit.

In August, the average oil production we operated (own share and of partners) in the pre-salt was 1.1 million bpd, also a monthly record. In addition, on Aug. 28, the oil output in that province reached a new daily record, coming in at 1.22 million barrels.

The sale of the assets in Argentina impacted the international output, leading to a 1.4 percent drop in the company's total production. Oil output abroad contributed with 68,000 bpd to the company's average production in the month, of 2.29 million bpd.

Natural gas output sets new record in Brazil

Our natural gas output in Brazil, excluding the liquefied volume, was 79.5 million m³/day, 0.1 percent above the previous month's (79.4 million m³/day) and setting a new monthly record.

The average natural gas production abroad was 9.6 million m³/d, 40 percent below the 16 million m³/d mark set in the previous month on account of the divestment of assets in Argentina.
