  • Asphaltic Products

    Asphaltic Products

    ok

    The asphalt we produce in our refineries is marketed nearly entirely to the distributors. Only a small amount is sold directly to the end customers.

    Here at Petrobras, we work with two types of products: petroleum asphalt cement (PAC), which is used directly to build asphaltic coatings; and the diluted petroleum asphalts (DPA), also known as cut-back asphalts.

    The other products used for paving are manufactured and marketed by the distributors based on petroleum asphalt cement.

    We also market waterproofing products, asphaltic emulsion, rubber asphalt, and the exclusive Laykold colored coating system.

  • Base Oils

    Base Oils

    ok

    These oils are the base for the preparation of a huge array of products. The most known of them are the lubricants.

    Base oils can be rated according to their chemical constitution as paraffinic and naphthenic.

  • Fuel Oils

    Fuel Oils

    ok

    Fuel oil is an oil derivate obtained in the refining process. According to the processes and blends it undergoes in the refineries, it can be supplied in diversity of types that meet the most varied market requirements.

    The industry uses the product to heat boilers and kilns, or in internal combustion engines to generate heat.

    We market fuel oils with a wide array of viscosities. They are divided into two groups, according to their sulfur content, and there are nine different types in each group.

  • Greases

    Greases

    ok

    Together with our line of industrial lubricants, we produce greases for the most diverse purposes. All with the quality and technology that are characteristic of the Petrobras brand.

    The line has products for multiple applications: lithium, calcium, asphaltic base greases, greases for the food industry (pharmaceutic and cosmetics), and inorganic thickening grease.

  • Green Petroleum Coke

    Green Petroleum Coke

    ok

    The differential of the green petroleum coke we produce at our refineries is its low sulfur content. This affords it higher value and increased environmental protection.

    This product is an excellent energy generator. Because it is a "rock" obtained from refining process residues, it is considered as "coal" derived from petroleum. This is a hydrocarbon with a high fixed carbon content.

    Our refineries produce two types of coke, differentiated per anode grade or metallurgical grade.

    Anode Grade Coke is used as a raw material to manufacture anodes to produce aluminum or titanium dioxide.

    Metallurgical Grade Code, meanwhile, is used, as the name says, in iron and steel metallurgy, in pelletizing, and to obtain lime in industrial kilns. Its use substitutes, partially, for imported mineral coal and charcoal.

  • Industrial Lubrax

    Industrial Lubrax

    ok

    As lubricants evolved, they went on to accumulate new functions, such as protecting against corrosion, to assist in sealing, to transfer heat, and to remove undesirable products from the system.

    The main advantages of lubrication include reduced wear and tear on parts, less loss due to friction, and increased operation safety.

    We work to deliver the best products, with guaranteed quality and Petrobras' technology.

  • Industrial Natural Gas

    Industrial Natural Gas

    ok

    In the Industry, natural gas is used as fuel to provide heat, generate electricity, and to put equipment into motion; as a raw material in the chemical and petrochemical sectors, particularly to produce methanol, and in fertilizers, to produce ammonium and urea. It is also used as a steel reducer in steel manufacturing.

    Natural gas burns clean, free of pollutants, and it is ideal for processes that require burning in direct contact with the final product, such as in the ceramics industry, and in glass and cement manufacturing.

  • Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)

    Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)

    ok

    "Cooking gas," as liquefied petroleum gas is popularly known because its main use is to cook food, is one of the lightest fractions of oil and it burns very clean, with extremely low levels of pollutant emissions.

    Because of these characteristics, it can be used in closed environments, such as in the kitchen of your house, for industrial applications that are sensitive to pollutants, and to manufacture glass, ceramic products, and food.

    But is it a gas or a liquid? Under normal atmospheric conditions, it is found in the gaseous form. However, from the production process to bottling in the steel bottles, it is kept in the liquid form, under pressure.

    We market LPG directly to the distributors. They are in charge of the retail network and of the major consumers.

  • Paraffins

    Paraffins

    ok

    Petrobras' paraffin is obtained as a co-product to prepare base oils and is acknowledged as one of the best in the world.

    Although its most common application is to make candles, paraffins are present in several products, such as chewing gum, pharmaceuticals, cleaning products, matches, photographic films, a few types of paper and rubber, cosmetics, and they are even used to protect fruits and seeds.

    Paraffins are sold by distributors as tablets or in bulk.

  • Solvents

    Solvents

    ok

    Here at Petrobras, we produce solvents for several applications. According to their chemical compositions, they are divided into aliphatic and aromatic.

    The solvents are sold directly to NPA-authorized distributors.

  • Sulfur

    Sulfur

    ok

    The sulfur in our productive chain is the fruit of our commitment to environmental preservation and social responsibility. The reason for this is because it is obtained from the removal of sulfurous compounds present, in small amounts, in oil-derived fuels, such as diesel and gasoline.

    By removing sulfur from the fuels, we deliver products that help improve the quality of the air we breathe. When you step on your car's gas pedal, or when you use kilns at your plant, acid gases will be emitted.

    As the only relevant producers in the domestic sulfur market, we offer the products both in the solid and liquid forms.

    Main Applications

    Upwards of 90% of the sulfur in the world is used to produce sulfuric acid, the main purpose of which is to produce agricultural fertilizers (phosphated).

    The remaining 10% are divided in other applications, such as:

    - to dissolve wood to produce cellulose;

    - to whiten sugar, freeing it of impurities;

    - to vulcanize rubbers, something that increases product resistance, particularly tires;

    - to formulate insecticides and fungicides;

    - raw material for the chemical industry, with emphasis on formulating biodegradable detergents;

    - feed complement for cattle.
