History
After Brazil, Colombia was the second country where we set out to undertake our activities, as of 1972. After the period in which we prioritized our operations in the Middle East, we returned to Colombia in 1986, in the exploration activity. In the 1990’s, by acquiring assets from several operators, we expanded our business in the country.

Activities
We hold an important position insofar as dominating deepwater oil and gas exploration technology, developed in Brazil and introduced into our projects deployed in the western coast of Africa, in the American sector of the Gulf of Mexico, and in the Colombian Caribbean, drilling the Araza-1 well.

In 2000, we made one of the biggest discoveries in the past 15 years in Colombia: the Guando field, located 110 kilometers southeast of the capital, Bogota. This field’s total recoverable volume is some 126 million barrels and its production, made in a consortium, is about 30,000 barrels of oil per day.

After the Guando discovery, other blocks were added to Petrobras Colombia’s portfolio. The current portfolio is composed of 21 exploratory blocks, of which eight are being operated, and eight development blocks, five of which are in operation.

The total production operated by Petrobras in the Colombian territory is 49,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed); the company’s share in this case adds up to about 16,000 boed. The exploration potential of new areas, in the Tayrona, RC6, RC7, Cebucan, Balay, Cerrero, and Guadual blocks and in the non-operated blocks, as well as share opportunities also in the downstream (derivative distribution and marketing) sector, allow an excellent growth scenario to be envisioned for Petrobras Colombia’s activities.

We provide fuel and lubricant distribution services via our service station network. That way, Colombians can count on the advantages of the Spacio 1 convenience stores, the global Petrobras service station convenience store brand, among others.
