History
We have been operating in Uruguay since 2004, when we started distributing natural gas in the interior of the country. We have partnerships with the Uruguayan state-owned enterprise, Administración Nacional de Combustibles Alcohol y Portland (Ancap).
The business was consolidated when we took control over control from a Uruguayan distributor after acquiring a 55% stake that had previously belonged to a Spanish group.
The distribution company we run has exclusive rights for natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and manufactured gas supply throughout the interior of Uruguay, outside the capital Montevideo.
Activity enhancement
In 2006, our performance in Uruguay stood out again, in the natural gas sector, when we completed the acquisition of 66% of the stock belonging to Gaseba Uruguay S.A., currently MontevideoGas, the concessionary that distributes, via pipelines, Natural Gas, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), and Manufactured Gas in the Uruguayan capital. This concession, valid through 2025, covers the city of Montevideo.
